Inside Intrepid: Blake Ashford

Blake currently serves as Technical Sales Engineer.

How did you make it to Intrepid?

My good buddy Ethan Siegel, whom I met while studying petroleum engineering at Texas A&M, mentioned Intrepid was looking for several young engineers to develop and build a career at Intrepid. Eager to hear more about the opportunity, I loaded up my truck, headed out to West Texas, got hired, and never looked back. I am now based in Houston and work out of the office here.

What do you do here?

In my current role as the Technical Sales Engineer, I support the sales team and clients with technical information regarding our products and evaluate performance data to generate KPIs from our current operations. My role also includes engaging with clients and building relationships to help drive success for not only Intrepid but our customers as well. I’ve worn many hats over my 4 years at Intrepid, so I feel very well-rounded and see the vision Intrepid has.

What are your hopes for your time at Intrepid?

To make an impact in expanding Intrepid’s presence in all major U.S. basins. From operations and sales to shop employees, everyone has one goal which is to be the best. Everyone has so much knowledge and experience so it’s enjoyable coming to work and trying to help accomplish this goal.

How did you get interested in your field of work?

Since I was a kid, I wanted to be an engineer because of my dad as he’s an electrical engineer. Before going to college, there was a resurgence of the US oil industry because of the shale boom in the early 2010s, and I thought it’d be an interesting field to get into. Working in directional and having been in this industry for 5 years now and really being in the heart of oil and gas out in the Permian, I’d say I made the right choice.

What's your idea of the perfect day?

The perfect day includes providing value to the sales team by delivering solutions or information to help grow our footprint on the market or meeting with clients to learn, understand, and help drive their success. At the end of the day though, I enjoy going home to see my fiancé and dog, and maybe even getting some golf swings in.
